Last week CD approved another contact of AEGEE – Ufa in Russia, Republic of Bashkortostan. We are happy that one more point is added to AEGEE map and looking forward to see them signing the CdA with AEGEE-Europe in the near future! How did they get to know about AEGEE?
A girl from Ufa, called Alsu, was in the USA last summer, where she met very nice people from Poland. One of them, Pawel Krawczyk, told her about AEGEE. “I always a have purpose of my life: to learn a foreign language, to communicate with interesting people. I started to think about opening AEGEE-Ufa. While I was gather documents, my friends supported me and gave a lot of advises. I hope that we will be a good antenna,” says Alsu.
Located on the western slopes of the Ural Mountains, Ufa is an industrial city in which mining and electrical equipment, refined petroleum, forest products, chemicals, synthetic rubber, and processed foods are manufactured. Founded in 1574 as a fortress, it became the first Russian town in the area called Bashkiria in 1586. The magnificent natural scenery of Ufa and its surroundings depends on the city’s location in the forest and steppe zone and on the nearness of big rivers. It is not surprising, therefore, that the beauty of the land was noticed by people of the ancient past.
What about the university?
Ufa’s branch Ural State Law Academy was founded in Ufa a few years ago. Now their academy is famous in all the Republic of Bashkortostan.
