>AEGEE goes to Genova

>This time AEGEE welcomes the new contact in the sunny city of Genova.

Genova (or in English Genoa) is an important seaport in northern Italy, more precisely the capital of Liruria region. With its 700.000 inhabitants, it’s the inferior angle of the so-called italian “industrial triangle” together with Milano and Torino, granting it the role of one of the major economic centres.
Also known as “the Superb One” due to its glorious ancient past, this city used to be one of the old Sea Republics, being an enemy of Venice. As a curious particular, its flag is the same of England.
Although rich in cultural and historical attractions – its medieval old town is the oldest in Europe – , Genova has been long ignored by conventional tourist routes.

The University of Genova which will support future AEGEE-Genova was founded in 1471, hosts around 40.000 students and has all the most important faculties.
In Italy, every region (if not every single city) has some kind of stereotype; Genova doesn’t make exception. The inhabitants are said to be greedy and closed-minded, even by themselves!
