STeXX (Student Experiences Exchange) is a new project that is being organized by Studyportals, AEGEE and ESTIEM. And last weekend of November, we all gathered in Brussels for kick-off meeting – to discuss all future plans and create a strategy how to proceed in upcoming months. The main aim of this project is to collect reports from students about their studies abroad – and create a database that will help future international students to choose right programme and right university for themselves.
STeXX: Student experiences exchange
Almost all international students are very positive about their experiences abroad. They generally have lots of stories about their adventures, stories that are enthusiastic, inspiring and also a great motivator for other students to also go abroad. Moreover, these students have a great deal of local insights and practical information that could help any future student considering to study in the same city.
Many of these students – including Erasmus exchange students – are obliged to write a report on their mobility period. And many others are already writing blogs or other stories about their experiences. Sharing all these stories about European study destinations will help a lot of students in their study choice, and enable them to experience the same adventurous time abroad. A centralised European website will be launched: StudyExperiencesPortal.eu. This website will be linked to the popular study choice websites Bachelors-, Masters-, and PhDportal.eu, where over one million students look for their dream study in Europe every month. The enthusiasm, local advice and cul
tural insights in all these stories will help and convince many future students to come study in Europe!
During our kick-off meeting in CD house, representatives from all NGOs involved in this project spent a lot of time discussing about future steps in STeXX.
First step will be a think tank that will happen already in December in Izmir and 15 participants (not only) from AEGEE will get together to brainstorm about new ideas how to gather students’ reports.
Another part of STeXX project is a writing contest that will finish in the end of this year (more info here).
But as STeXX is a one-year project, there will be a lot more happening also in 2011, so in case that you are interested in this topic – stay tuned!
