During the Spring Agora Rhein-Neckar, it was confimed that the next EBM will be organized by AEGEE-Lublin. Lublin is a Polish city situated in the south -east of the country , it’s one of the major cultural centres of Poland and this is shown by the fact that the city is a candidate for becoming European Capital of Culture in 2016. We asked the happy team some questions about the event they are organising.
1.Why did you decide to apply as hosting antenna for the EBM 2014?
So far, EBM has been the largest project organized by AEGEE-Lublin. We decided to apply for the organization because we want to develop ourselves. We like challenges and we believe that the organization of such a huge and prestigious event will help us to encourage more people in Poland to join AEGEE and convince AEGEEans from all over Europe that the east is not that terrifying. We want to give a contribution not only to the local level but the European level as well.
2.There is a lot of time till the event, but do you think it will be difficult to organize it?
Of course, it will be a huge challenge with a lot of different tasks to accomplish. We are prepared to work hard and to make sacrifices. In fact, there are only ten months left before EBM, which is really not a lot. We realize that this is a difficult task, but with motivation and support from all the locals around us we will rock this EBM!
3.We all know that events in hot countries are always more popular than those in colder countries. So how do you intend to attract people , to convince them to attend your event?
We hope to change the way of thinking of many AEGEEans about Poland and in particular the eastern part of our country. We believe that the organization of EBM in Lublin is a good opportunity to show what kind of people we really are -not only having fun, but also working hard. In addition, it will be a good opportunity to show everyone that even in such a small town as Lublin there are a lot of interesting places to visit. And of course everyone needs to feel the Polish hospitality and temperament. Anyone who knows Polish AEGEEans, knows it will be worth to visit Lublin for EBM 2014, anyone who still doesn’t know, will be convinced to come to Lublin during Agora Zaragoza.
4.How many participants do you expect? Do you think it will be difficult to deal with so many people?
We are planning an event for 300 people. We realize that this is a big number, but with our temperament, willingness to act, and motivation, we are able to provide all participants in both the right conditions to discuss and work as well as have a lot of fun.
5.There are no official dates mentioned yet, did you established them already?
We do not have specific date yet, but we want to organize EBM Lublin in February 2014.
