Just a few minutes ago CD approved a new contact in the United Kingdom, so I am very happy to welcome Swansea in AEGEE family! :)
Swansea is the second most populous city in Wales after Cardiff and the third most populous county in Wales after Cardiff and Rhondda Cynon Taf. During its 19th century industrial heyday, Swansea was one of the key centres of the world copper industry, earning the nickname ‘Copperopolis’. Now it has almost 230 thousands inhabitants, and also tourists like to visit the city because of its culture and beautiful nature.
The new contact there is being supported by Swansea University, which offers over 500 undergraduate courses and 150 postgraduate courses to around 14 thousand students, and is proud of its heritage, links with industry and commerce as as well as high levels of student satisfaction. It is also the third largest university in Wales in terms of number of students, and was established in 1920 as University College of Swansea at that time.
Good luck to Felix Nolte and Andy Patton, who started the initiative of AEGEE being established in Swansea – and we hope to see you soon in your first AEGEE events!
P.S. Pictures were taken from Google :)
