>AEGEE European School 2 in Poznań, Poland
AEGEE-Academy & AEGEE-Poznań
4th – 12th September, 2010

We are not only in AEGEE to stand up for the future of Europe; we are also in AEGEE to learn from each other, discover new horizons, acquire new skills and develop ourselves as personalities. Of course, in most of our activities, all these aspects go somehow together. But rarely have I seen such an ideal combination, such a synergy of learning and doing as I experienced during the ES2 Poznań…

This beautiful Polish city harbours one of our association’s most active and professional Antennae, AEGEE-Poznań, who were the perfect choice to host AEGEE’s most advanced training course. And a huge success it was, not only from the logistical point of view.

Twenty young people from all over Europe came together here to discover the depths of their own personalities and their motivation, to meet each other and exchange experiences from their different cultural backgrounds, to learn new working methods for project management, and to develop their ideas together for the future of Europe. Facilitated by a team of seven trainers (5 AEGEE, 1 BEST, 1 EFPSA), they soon created a unique atmosphere of friendship and respect which greatly contributed not only to their great productivity, but also to an everlasting experience that will not soon be forgotten by any of the people that were involved.

As a concrete outcome, four initiatives were founded that are dealing with the following matters:
– sustainable Human Resources in student organisations;
– social inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities;
– intercultural dialogue with young people from Islamic minorities in Europe;
– innovative ways of cooperationg between student organisations.
Probably all of them will present themselves during the upcoming Agora in Istanbul!

As an observer who arrived in the middle of the event, I can only say that I am thoroughly impressed by every single person that was involved in this ES2: the local organisers, the participants, and especially the trainers, who did an amazing job and sacrificed every minute of their leisure time to make the best out of it. As a person who truly loves AEGEE, I can only be grateful for the fact that we have events like these happening in our association, and come to the conclusion that we need more of it. Let’s make it happen!
