It unleashes my creativity”

In AEGEE-Sofia we are more than family and we share all emotions and concerns about our work. I know Atanas for almost three years and I know him as really reliable and party person. But last half a year his way of life changed completely….Changed not because of a girl but because of two letters – JC. Proposals, amendments, ballot papers, procedures…That’s the reality for him since Agora Skopje…But he likes it and wants Juridical Commission (JC) to be part of his life even a year longer. This is Atanas Nachkov – 4th year law student, Information Technologies Responsible of AEGEE-Sofia and current JC member. Or just Nasko as we call him…"As

JC is one of the most working commissions and at the same time they work with “dry and boring” documents. Why do you candidate for a second term in JC?

I don’t find them “dry and boring”. Well, they are not wet, but certainly the Corpus Iuridicum Aegeense (CIA) is one very interesting reading before going to bed.

The reason to apply again is the limited amount of time of half a year to introduce a sustainable improvement in the JC. The Commission deals with a lot of requests and tasks and the procedures with their deadlines are very rigid. We almost don’t have time to think for something else. The next term will be one year, which will extend the room for internal development. Moreover, this will allow preparing the next JC generations.

What do you do now as JC member?

"AtI am currently responsible for the administration of the work flow of the Commission, the development of the Public Relations of the JC, focusing on the renovated website and new Facebook page, I am directing the Subcommissioners, which includes their Agora preparation and motivation as well as providing interpretations on requests from externals. Until the deadline of the proposals submission I was following their discussions and trying to facilitate their acceptance by the JC as well as providing a short course for the Subcomissioners how to perform this task, which sometimes is very complicated and needs a lot of undivided attention.

Wow, sounds like a lot. Do you have time for something else?

Yes, to study at the university.

You are a current JC member. If you are re-elected are you going to change something?

Definitely I will. As I said, this term will be one year and there will be enough time to do this. The first thing which would come right after the Agora is the knowledge transfer and the team-building. Close relations inside the Commission are the utmost insurance for an efficient performance. Then, something which I have already done once with the EBM Reform comments would be an extended comment of the AEGEE Structure and administration. More than half of the requests to the Juridical Commission consist of questions about the organs responsibilities and obligations. I believe an “advanced members manual” comprising of a depository of legal knowledge will be more helpful than waiting three days for the JC reply. Furthermore, this will contribute to the future JC terms with ready interpretations and answers. Another thing to add would be the internal task division and introducing a new role in the JC – the Secretary. However, this will depend on the newly elected team, not one person’s opinion. In addition, I want to focus on AEGEE-Europe registration procedure and the preparation of blank templates for future use. The last, but not the least, the CIA content structure is outdated and needs transformation.

Why should people choose Atanas for JC?

""MyThe experience and the motivation. It is one year since I am in the JC and the last six months I have been managing Subcommissioners. Now I can easily form a team and start working. Moreover, I’m having close contacts with the Chair Team and we are very good friends. This is the only one group in AEGEE the JC works with as much as with the Comite Directeur.

On the other hand, I love JC. In comparison to a law office, the environment here unleashes your creativity and makes you strive for more and better. Working with students from different parts of the continent allows broadening your visions and understandings. This is what pushes me to go on!

We saw your suit in “frosty” Struga. How did u manage at this cold?

There was someone to warm me up!

We have a joke that Public Relations Committee is the tallest body in AEGEE and The AEGEEan – the sexiest. What is JC then?

I believe the JC will try to overthrow the AEGEEan.

Thank you and good luck at the Agora.
