Last week CD approved yet another contact and now we welcome Yerevan back in AEGEE Network<\/b>! Some years ago there already was an AEGEE local and now we hope to welcome them as as a local soon again!<\/div>\n

Named as the 2012 World Book Capital by the UNESCO, Yerevan is the capital and largest city of Armenia and one of the world\u2019s oldest continuously-inhabited cities. Situated along the Hrazdan River, Yerevan is the administrative, cultural and industrial centre of the country. Today Yerevan has more than 1 million population making it one of the largest cities in the Caucasus.<\/div>\n
The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century B.C., with the founding of the fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC by king Argishti I at the western extreme of the Ararat plain.<\/div>\n
With the growth of the economy of the country, Yerevan has been undergoing major transformation as many parts of the city have been the recipient of new construction since the early 2000s. Today, the appearance of the new buildings, roads, restaurants, boutiques, clubs & pubs etc., have started to give the city a modern, cosmopolitan appearance. The city embodies a wide variety of cultures, traditions and tastes while at the same time retaining its own sense of identity as an Armenian city.<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>Yerevan is a fast developing city with active academic and student life. There are more than 20 public and 80 private Universities. The Armenian State University of Economics, which will support future AEGEE-Yerevan is one of the oldest and biggest Universities in Armenia with more than 80 years of academic history.
